A Valentine’s High Tea Tradition (Simple, Sweet & Made to Share)

Share The Bliss
Hello Beautiful Friends!
There’s something special about slowing down and setting a table just because it’s February.
There’s something special about traditions. And this high tea on Valentines is one you will surely love to share with your friends and family!
Welcome back to Oceans Bliss Portal! Over the years, this has become a little tradition in our home, a Valentine’s high tea I put together for my daughter and now, for her and her girlfriends. It’s simple, a bit nostalgic, and honestly one of those things that feels bigger than the effort it takes.
If you’re looking for something meaningful (and not overcomplicated), this is an easy way to create a day that feels thoughtful, cozy, and a little bit magical — whether it’s for your kids, your friends, or your family.
Setting the Table (Keep It Simple)
You don’t need anything elaborate here.
-
A small table or corner set up
-
Teacups or mismatched mugs
-
A simple cloth or runner
-
A few candles or soft lighting
-
A touch of Valentine’s: hearts, flowers, or even just pink and red tones
Sometimes we add little handwritten notes or place cards, especially when my daughter has friends over. It makes it feel like an event, even if everything else is simple.
Easy High Tea Foods to Serve
A mix of homemade and store-bought works perfectly. Lots of fresh strawberries are always a hit!
Something sweet
-
Heart-shaped cookies or shortbread
-
Mini cupcakes
-
Chocolate-dipped strawberries
-
Jam and scones
Something savoury
-
Small tea sandwiches (cucumber, egg salad, or cream cheese)
-
Crackers with cheese
-
Little pastry bites
Something to sip
-
Herbal teas
-
Warm milk with honey
-
A simple “pink drink” (juice with sparkling water works well for kids)
If you enjoy baking, this is a fun place to involve your kids. If not, assembling a tray is just as meaningful.
Making It Special for Kids (and Especially Girls’ Gatherings)
When my daughter has her friends over, this becomes part tea party, part memory-making.
A few simple ideas that always work:
-
Let them help set the table
-
Give each guest a small treat or take-home (a cookie, a note, or something handmade)
-
Play soft music in the background
-
Keep it unstructured so they can chat, laugh, and just be together
Turning It Into a Yearly Tradition
This is where it really becomes something.
Doing it once is lovely. Doing it every year turns it into something your kids remember.
They start to expect it. Look forward to it. Eventually, they help create it.
For us, it’s become part of how we mark the season — still winter, but with a hint of warmth and connection. A small celebration that doesn’t rely on going out or buying much, just showing up and making space for each other.
