Raw, unpasteurized, made from scraps… extremely healthy… it almost seems illegal! But no, this is simply the truth behind homemade ACV. Also, the flavour is unparalleled compared to store bought. I’m bottling the ACV I made during the 2025 apple harvest, which has been resting in my cold room until now. With the weather warming up, it’s time to bottle up. It’s truly one of the easiest things to make and so good for your health. You don’t even need to wait for apple season, just use the scraps left over after making an apple pie. Recipe 👇🏼 🍎 How to Make Homemade Apple Cider Vinegar 1. Fill a clean jar ¾ full with organic apple scraps — cores, peels, or chopped apples. 2. Add 1 tbsp organic cane sugar per cup of filtered water, then pour over the apples until fully covered. 3. Add 1–2 tbsp of ACV starter (the mother) from a previous batch or store bought real acv to kickstart fermentation. 4. Cover the jar with a breathable cloth or cheesecloth and secure with a rubber band or cord. 5. Let it sit at room temperature, out of direct sunlight, for 2–3 weeks, stirring every few days. 6. Strain out the apples, then let the liquid ferment for another 3–4 weeks or longer, until it reaches your preferred tanginess. 7. Bottle and store, no refrigeration needed, or refrigerate once opened for convenience. 💡 Pro tip: Save a bit of this batch as your starter (the mother) for your next one, it helps fermentation start faster and gives a stronger, tangier flavour.
