👇🏼DIY LILAC SUGAR BODY SCRUB A couple weeks ago I made lilac sugar…and now it’s turning into the dreamiest scrub to get my winter skin ready for shorts and t-shirts! Body scrubs are one of the easiest things to make, another simple and affordable product to add to your self sufficient lifestyle…😊 You’ll need: • 1 cup homemade lilac sugar • 1/2 cup organic coconut oil Mix and spoon into a clean jar. For a finer scrub: pulse your lilac sugar in a food processor first. To use: In a warm shower, gently massage the scrub in circular motions onto your skin and rinse with warm water. I use this for body only because I find sugar can be too rough for the face. Store: sealed jar, use as needed. Shelf life is pretty good for this one, up to three months if it lasts that long! Because it’s just sugar + oil, it’s naturally preserving as long as no water gets into the jar. Making your own hand cream is one of the easiest steps into a more self-sufficient life! Dandelions are great for dry damaged skin. I infuse them into oil and turn them into a whipped butter that actually brings my skin back to life day after day! This one is for the hard working hands!! For makers, bakers, gardeners, canners and anyone working with their hands every day. 🌼Wild Dandelion Hand + Cuticle Butter Ingredients: * 3/4 cup shea butter * 3 tbsp dandelion-infused oil * 1 tbsp vitamin E oil * 1 1/2 tbsp grated beeswax (or pastilles) How I make it: 1. Melt shea butter + beeswax together in a double boiler until fully liquid. 2. Stir gently as it melts so everything blends smooth. 3. Remove from heat and let cool slightly (don’t skip this or you’ll lose the fluff). 4. Stir in dandelion oil and vitamin E oil 5. Place in the fridge for about 30–40 minutes until it starts to set around the edges but is still soft in the middle. 6. Whip with a hand mixer until light, fluffy, and cloud-like. If it gets too soft, chill again briefly and re-whip. 7. Spoon into a clean jar or tin (8oz mason jars work perfectly). How I use it: * At night on slightly damp hands to lock in moisture. Take the time to massage it into your cuticles * A small amount goes a long way * Cotton gloves on my hands after I apply the cream to sleep in Save this recipe!
