Here’s my best recipe for non-toxic foaming hand soap that smells amazing, feels fancy, and won’t dry out your hands! Make this for a fraction of the store price If you’re like me and have a slightly out of control collection of antique mason jars just hanging out on a shelf…. this one’s for you. Put a couple of those jars to good use and turn them into foaming hand soap dispensers! First thing... You’ll need a foaming soap pump dispenser or a lid for a mason jar… I linked the lids these in my storefront on my Instagram page, they make such a good, creamy foam! This recipe is for a 500 ml (16oz) mason jar: Foaming Hand Soap Recipe: - 1 1/2 cups distilled water - 1/2 cup Castille Soap - 1 tbsp carrier oil (liquid apricot, almond, sunflower, jojoba or coconut - 1 tsp vegetable glycerin (optional, for moisture and extra foam) - 18 drops essential oil Essential Oil Suggestions: * 8 drops Lemon * 6 drops Tea Tree * 4 drops Lavender OR * 8 drops Lavender * 6 drops Eucalyptus * 4 drops Peppermint Tips: - Avoid thick oils (like avocado or unrefined coconut oil) in foaming dispensers-they may clog the pump. - Shake the bottle gently before each use if the oil separates. - Put an expiration on the bottom for a month If you love self-sufficiency, organic gardening, seasonal living, non toxic DIY home and garden and returning to a life of bliss off the beaten path, follow along as we embrace simple pleasures, grow our own food, and live closer to nature! . . . #selfsufficiency #nontoxichome #homesteader #diyfoaminghandsoap #naturalliving

Every spring I forage stinging nettle and make a simple tea to sip daily, it’s a little gift from nature that helps me during my spring detox. It is one of my personal favourites! You can find it along riverbanks, creeks, and shady damper areas. It’s bright green leaves with a serrated “saw-tooth” edge leaves grow in opposite pairs on a square-ish stem. Best to get a reference book if you’re new to foraging or use a plant identifying app. To make: 🍃Wear gloves, harvest young tops, rinse well. steep 1–2 tsp dried (or a small handful fresh) in hot water for 10–15 minutes. strain. enjoy warm or cooled. Traditionally used as a spring tonic, stinging nettle tea is known to be rich in minerals like iron, calcium, and magnesium, and has been studied for its anti-inflammatory properties. It’s also commonly used to support seasonal allergies and gentle detox pathways.
