Some of my handmade collections are created simply because they’re beautiful. Others are created because they carry a piece of who we are. My Book Bliss Collection is very much the second.
Everything I make begins with something I’m genuinely passionate about. Throughout the year I create handmade collections inspired by the changing seasons, holidays, festivals and the trends that bring people together. I love creating pieces that celebrate the things that have shaped my life and encourage others to enjoy them too.

Books have always been one of those things.

That’s why I designed my handmade book earrings, each one carefully sculpted with tiny handmade flowers, along with my Little Page Keepers, my corner bookmarks that hold your place until you’re ready to continue your story. They’re little accessories, but they represent something much bigger.

I grew up in libraries, not on computers, and some of my happiest childhood memories were spent wandering between the shelves looking for my next adventure. A library was never just a building full of books. It was a place where I could find answers to almost any question, travel to countries I’d never seen, meet fascinating people, and discover hobbies, history, nature and ideas I never would have found otherwise.

Even now, I can still remember the feeling of walking through the doors, breathing in that familiar scent of books and leaving with a stack that felt full of possibilities. Every visit felt like bringing home a collection of new adventures.

That feeling has never left me.

Now I get to experience it all over again with my daughter.

One of our favourite weekly traditions is visiting the Penticton library together. We wander the shelves, each choosing a stack of books before heading home to read together at night. Some books make us laugh, others teach us something new and many spark conversations that continue long after we’ve closed the cover.

As a homeschooling family, our library has become an extension of our classroom. Instead of learning only from worksheets, we follow curiosity wherever it leads. One question about birds might send us home with field guides, while an interest in pioneers, oceans, gardening, or Ancient Egypt can turn into an entire week of reading, exploring, and learning together. Books have a wonderful way of allowing children to dive deeply into subjects that capture their imagination.

Reading also teaches something that’s becoming increasingly rare today. It encourages patience, imagination, focus, and the ability to sit quietly with your own thoughts. It allows children to picture characters in their minds instead of having every image created for them. Those are skills worth protecting.

Technology certainly has its place, and we use it when it’s helpful, but we’ve made a conscious decision that we don’t want screens replacing books. There is something deeply peaceful about sitting together with a story that no device has ever been able to replace.

Perhaps that’s why I felt so inspired to create this collection.

If my little handmade book earrings make another reader smile, or one of my Little Page Keepers becomes part of someone’s nightly reading routine, then I’ve created exactly what I hoped for. If they remind someone to visit their local library, read one more chapter before bed, or encourage a child to choose a story over another hour of scrolling, then they’ve become much more than handmade accessories.

They’ve become little reminders of the kind of life I hope we continue to build.

One filled with curiosity and imagination! Because I truly believe imaginations are our superpowers!  Also, one where our evenings are still spent turning pages together.

Life’s greatest adventures begin with a library card, a comfortable chair, and the turning of the very first page.
