Neem Oil: My Go-To Natural Garden Routine
Share The Bliss
Hello Beautiful Friends!
A little backstory on why I know so much about neem oil—it takes me back to my jungle days in Bali. I lived there for a few years, and mosquitoes were a real problem. Dengue fever and malaria were constant threats, and the resort hotels would spray loads of chemical pesticides to keep the tourists happy and bite-free. But where I lived, I had to take care of my own garden, and being the natural person I am, I used neem oil.
Welcome back to Oceans Bliss Portal! Let’s talk natural gardens and my favourite natural garden spray!
Fast forward to now, here in the Okanagan, I’m still using neem oil in my garden, and it works like a charm. Back in July, I lost some young beets and basil to pests, but after starting my neem oil routine, my second round of crops bounced back, and I haven’t had any issues since.
Neem oil is a true multipurpose gem. Beyond being a garden lifesaver, it’s widely used in Bali for skincare—known for its antimicrobial properties, it helps with everything from clearing up skin to reducing dandruff. I’ve even seen moms rub it on their kids’ feet to prevent warts!
So whether it’s for your plants or yourself, it’s definitely worth having a bottle of neem oil around. Do a little research, and see how it might fit into your life.
Here’s my tried-and-true neem oil garden spray recipe. And remember, a little neem oil goes a long way:
Neem Oil Garden Spray Recipe
1 tsp neem oil
1/2 tsp liquid soap
1L water
Shake well, and spray at dusk after you’ve watered the garden to keep pests at bay. Neem oil disrupts pests’ life cycles without harming your plants. It’s safe, simple, and so effective!
Give it a try, and let nature do its thing!
