Get Your Fall Garden Ready
Share The Bliss
Hello Beautiful Friends!
Hello August! It’s time to start your seeds for your fall garden, my friends!
Getting my greenhouse garden ready for fall is my absolute favourite! Dreaming of fall weather, morning sweater weather when watering, root vegetable harvests, and fresh salads! I love pulling up carrots and beets, knowing a hearty soup is just around the corner.
Welcome back to Oceans Bliss Portal! It’s still hot here in Penticton, zone 6a, and my garden is still producing, so I’m starting my seeds in seed pots (August and September) and transplanting them out later on. I will direct sow my onions, carrots, lettuces, and beets though!
I have limited space, as I am only with a greenhouse on this property, with some salad boxes and potato boxes outside of the greenhouse.
Here’s a list of what I usually start:
- Beets
- Broccoli
- Brussels Sprouts
- Cabbage
- Carrots
- Cauliflower
- Chard
- Collard Greens
- Arugula
- Kale
- Lettuce
- Peas
- Green Beans
- Radish
- Spinach
- Chives
- Onions
- Fennel
Using biodegradable pots for my fennel seeds is essential since they don’t transplant well. This method allows the seedlings to be placed directly into the garden without disturbing their roots, ensuring healthier growth.
For a fall greenhouse garden, I focus on hearty greens, root vegetables, and herbs that thrive in cooler temperatures. Lettuce, spinach, kale, and radishes are among my favourites, providing a continuous harvest of fresh produce as the days grow shorter.
Stay tuned for more updates as we move closer to fall! Happy gardening!
With Bliss xo
