Clearing the Air: Smudging Your Creative Space

Hello Friends!

As a creative person, my studio is a sanctuary for ideas to flow and my imagination to run free. But sometimes my space can feel heavy, blocking my creative flow. That’s when I sage my space!
It is truly my secret to a clear mind and clear creative space! Growing up surrounded by wild sage, I learned early on about the powerful cleansing properties of this herb. Every spring, when the wild sage is ready to harvest, I gather enough to make my own sage sticks for the year.

Tips:

– I harvest the sage in spring when the leaves are long, fluffy and fresh!
– After harvesting, I wait until the sage is partially dry before making the smudge sticks.
– I don’t add other flowers because the flowers don’t burn as well.
– I roll them loosely to allow air to flow through them, they don’t have to look perfect, what is important is the air will flow through the bunch of sage!
– I use a thin cotton string to tie them together and then I cut off any excess and then let them continue to air dry.
– Remember everything you add will burn and create smoke and ashes, so you don’t want excess!

Smudging is an ancient practice, using the smoke of herbs like sage to cleanse and purify spaces. It’s a ritual that helps me reset the energy in my studio, clearing away any negativity that might be stifling my creativity. I sage every couple of weeks to keep the energy fresh and vibrant.

After smudging, my creative space feels lighter, brighter, and ready for new ideas to blossom. It’s a simple, yet powerful ritual that reconnects me with my muse and helps my creativity flow freely. So, if your studio is feeling a bit off, try smudging—it will clear the air and your mind.
